What a busy week we have had in Year 5!
This week in our reading into writing we have started to look at setting descriptions, taking the fantastic scenery from the film 'How to train your dragon'. The children started off the week by using the 'where's wally' book to build up their descriptive skills using expanded noun phrases. They then looked at how we can describe settings using our senses and worked in groups to identify what they could see, hear, smell and touch within our setting descriptions. They have worked really hard and we are going to be continuing with our descriptions next week.
In maths this week, the children have finished their place value topic and will be moving onto addition next week. They have worked hard with challenge activities, including a Roman numerals challenge morning.
In our topic, we have started to look at where the Vikings settled and the types of houses they lived in. The children started to build their own versions of Viking settlements which we will be hoping to finish next week.
We wanted to say a massive thank you for all your support with homework. We have been blown away, not only by the art and craft designs but also the level of detail the children have put into fact files and drawing descriptions. Thank you!
Have a lovely weekend!
