WOW what a fantastic week we have had, we can't believe the week is already over. The children have settled really well in Year 5 and taken such a positive attitude to their learning. 

We kicked off the week with our wow starter - creating our own dragons and watching the film 'How to train your dragon'. This will be used to help us in our reading into writing, as the children will be discussing and deciding which is better, the Cressida Cowell book or the film.

In maths this week, the children have become digit warriors as they start to work on their place value skills. They have been flying through different 'chili challenges' that we have set, always looking to stretch themselves.

During our topic lesson, the children posed lots of questions about the interesting things they want to find out about Vikings. One of the key questions that kept coming up was 'were the Vikings bad people?' 

Over the next couple of weeks we will be researching all about the Vikings and I'm sure they will be able to have their own opinion, as they will deciding if they would like to be a Viking child.

This Friday, the class have taken part in the Enrichment afternoon. They will be taking part in a variety of activities throughout the year, which will change every half term. For this half term the children will be taking part in either, First Aid, Art or Film Making - from what I heard they had a fantastic afternoon.
