"I am an author week"

This week the whole school became authors. At the beginning of the week a visiting author Mr Damien Harvey told an action story in assembly and then visited each class for a story telling session. The children loved it, especially the jumping spider.

EYFS chose the books of Mo Willems, "Don't let the pigeon drive the bus" and "The pigeon finds a hot dog." First the children made their own biscuits and iced them with the face of the pigeon and after that the children explored colour mixing and shading to create their own pigeon. Children made finger puppets of the characters in the story and made their own hot dogs complete with sauce! Later in the week the children performed their own freeze frames of the pictures from the books and created their own captions on the word processor. We created a book for the parents to view in our celebration ceremony on Friday after school. What a busy week!
