Welcome back everyone!
This half term our topic is Hakuna Matata!
This topic is based on the continent of Africa and we will be comparing Manchester to Kenya in a variety of different ways. We will be looking at how the industrial revolution affected Manchester and how it also affected African countries such as Kenya. We will be creating lots of different pieces of African artwork and focusing on influential people in Africa - both past and present.
In our writing work we will be focusing on a range of different texts such as, Lila and the Secret of Rain and How the camel got his hump. We will be completing our own versions of these stories and also using the pictures to help us with our inference skills.
In our maths work we will be learning how to tell the time and recapping our work on shapes.
In our guided reading we will be focusing on some of the recommended texts for year 2, these will be .. the day the crayons quit, the lion's drum and also a squash and a squeeze.
