Get your week 1 news here...

Well what a great week this has been. We started off with our WOW starter when we became research assistants for the BBC show Blue Planet 11. We were given the task of researching the captivity of Killer Whales..Operation Blackfish was go go go!!!

We continued 'Operation Blackfish' in our reading into writing work. We have been carrying out lots of research and then have completed a pre-write where we wrote to SeaWorld to share our views. Our writing shows great potential!!!

In Maths, we are becoming fractions experts and we created our very own Fractions Museum to show off what we already know. In true Year 4 style we have created a fractions dance to help us remember the key vocabulary of 'whole', 'denominator' and 'numerator'. We are now thinking about equivalent fractions and have been busy building fractions walls and drawing bar models

Our topic work has got off to a splash as we began by researching the worlds oceans and looking under the surface of the sea to look at what we can find there. We really can't wait to carry on with this exciting topic. Please look out  for the Castleshaw letter so you can sign the parental consent and bring it back to school as soon as possible.

We are taking part in the Choral Speaking festival in March so we have been busy learning our poems this week. Each child has been given a copy of the poems so please, please, please can they practise at home. The children have shown such a positive attitude and we are sure they will put on a good show. As soon as the date has been confirmed we will let you all know so you can come along and watch.

Next week is such a busy week as we have Bikeability on Tuesday and World Book Day on Thursday. Have a look at what is needed on each day below...

Bikeability - a bike in good working order, a helmet, warm clothing and a waterproof coat. Please can the children taking part bring their school uniform in a plastic bag so they can get changed at lunchtime.

World Book Day - come to school in your PJ's/Onesies (with sensible shoes please) and bring your favourite book!

Thanks for a great first week back everyone  laugh
