Brilliant Beginnings!
What an amazing start Year 1 have made to their new school year! Everyone has returned to school full of enthusiasm and bursting with their summer news. Mrs McDonald and Miss Buckley have loved getting to know the children and they are so impressed with each and every one.
On Tuesday morning it took seconds to settle into our new classroom and I was so proud of how the children quickly got to grips with our Independent Learning Challenges and took responsibility for their own learning. The children have also taken to all of the changes in their daily routine like a ducks to water.
Our learning focused on building a growth mindset by reading and discussing a lovely book "The Dot" by Peter H Reynolds. We've decided that we're not going to say "I can't .....", but instead we will say "I can't ......yet!" We also made a good start to our History based topic when we compared baby toys to toys 5 and 6 year olds play with.
We have really enjoyed taking part in the mile run every day, and the Year 1 team are thinking we may have future Olympians!
Have a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing you all next week!
