Year 1 Autumn 2

This half term's topic is "Cabin Fever" and the children will be experiencing a contrast of hot and cold countries in the world. First stop will be Africa to explore the continent in more detail and discover the animals and people who live there. We will also be looking at the books "Handa's Surprise" and "Handa's Hen" before moving on to the North and South poles to discover who might be found in these frozen lands (especially around Christmas time).  There is certainly plenty to do this half term  so are you ready to buckle up and travel with us?

Welcome to Year 1 and I hope you have all had a fabulous summer break. This half term we will be looking at the book "The Scarecrows' Wedding" by Julia Donaldson and learning about  all things related to the Autumn season. In particular, we will be exploring where our food actually comes from. This will include a trip to Tesco Blakeley to learn more about healthy food and its preparation behind the scenes! So let's embrace the new academic year and continue to learn about our world around us with the rest of our friends in year 1.

The adults working in year 1 are Mrs Tetlow and Miss Faulkner, please speak to us at any time about life and learning in our classroom. Drop in sessions regarding learning will be Thursdays after school from 3-3.30 pm.
