We've had a really busy week in Year 5. We started our swimming lessons on Tuesday morning and all the children had the opportunity to go to Chadderton Sports Centre to meet our swimming teacher (Mrs Gilmore). If you have any questions in relation to swimming, please come and see us.
In our topic work, we've completed our work on the water cycle and we were very lucky to have a visit from United Utilities on Thursday. They came in to highlight the importance of water and the children had the opportunity to complete lots of practical activities to consolidate their learning.
We've continued to use our class book 'Kensuke's Kingdom' in our reading into writing and all the children have worked hard this week understanding key events in the story, using the correct tenses and identifying modal verbs.
In Maths this week, the children have tackled, ordering and comparing numbers, negative numbers and powers of 10. Even when they've found certain challenges hard, they persevered and continued to work through them.
Homework and reading books have been sent home. We have stuck some of the simple homework tasks into their books just incase they are struggling to pick one (a book review for a reading task, a times table sheet and a blank word search for them to add the key vocabulary).
We have booked to go to Castleshaw on Monday 14th October, there is a consent form that every child needs to take part in the trip. Please can these be returned as soon as possible.
We hope you have a lovely weekend!
