Week 2

Wow! It has been a very  busy week in Year 1!

In English this week, we have been thinking about the difference between common nouns and proper nouns and explaining how they know the difference.

In maths, the children have been thinking about ordinal numbers and how they can be used. Some children rolled vehicles down a ramp and then used ordinal numbers to show the order in which they moved the furthest along the carpet.

This week, we made poppies to place in the Whitegate End Remembrance Garden. As a class, we discussed why it was so important to mark this special occasion and why we needed to remember the brave soldiers. On Wednesday we watched a service presented by Mr Scott and the Year 6 children and observed a two minute silence. I was very impressed at how respectful the children were during this time.

Well done!

On Friday, we took part in a workout led by Joe Wicks for Children in Need. The children really enjoyed it. Thank you for your kind donations and support.

Here are a few more photographs showing what else the children got up to this week.

Hope everybody has a lovely weekend! See you on Monday.
