Week 6

What a busy week in Year 5!

In our reading into writing the children have written some fantastic setting descriptions and have been using their editing skills to improve their work. We cant wait to publish them next week and see if we have any masterpieces for our celebration assembly.

In maths we have continued to work on our column addition, the children have looked at missing digits and reasoning challenges. They have been brilliant at explaining and proving their answers and we will continue to work on this skill.

In our topic sessions, the children completed their pre-learn for our science topic - forces. They tried to remember what they learned in Year 3 and generated lots of questions they wanted to find out. We can't wait to start experimenting to really understand how forces work.

We have been lucky in Year 5 to receive road safety training from Oldham council this week. They couldn't speak highly enough of our children, who were fantastic role models.

On Wednesday, we were lucky to have some Swedish visitors pop into our classroom. We asked them lots of questions about what their schools are like, comparing theirs to ours. They had lots of information to share with us and we had a quiz all about Sweden which we enjoyed.

Just a reminder that the book fair starts on Monday, letters have been sent home with all the information on.

This week letters have gone home for parents evening on Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd October.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend!
