Week 1

What a fantastic start we have had in our first week back in school! We have had so much fun settling into year 1 and learning all about the new procedures and routines. We have already got really stuck in to our learning and I am blown away by the dedication and enthusiasm that the children have shown towards their work. This week we have been completing pre-learning assessments, introducing the new topic Toys (thank you for bringing some toys in from home) and getting to know one and other and the expectations for year 1.

Well done to those that worked really hard on their spellings this week. Please note that we change the spellings each Monday (not add to them) and we will continue to work on old spellings in school laugh All reading books have been sent home now and we are continuing to work through the book bands from Reception.

We understand coming in to school can be a little bit scary for the first couple of weeks but please help build your child's resilience by saying goodbye to them at the gate to avoid overcrowding by the door. We have staff available to help ease your child in to school should they need it, just give us the nod! Please can you ensure that all jumpers (including P.E kit are clearly labelled and that you check your child's uniform regularly to ensure they have taken the correct belongings home. I have provided 'special jumper baskets' for the children to keep their jumpers in to avoid them getting lost, alternatively each child has their own locker which they are encouraged to use.

A massive well done for a brilliant first week Year 1! yes
