Week 1

Another busy week in year 6 is nearly at an end!

In our English lessons we have been working hard this week with our grammar focusing mainly subordinate clauses and both formal and informal language. We had lots of fun confusing the staff around school at dinnertime by only speaking in formal language. On Friday we will be spending our whole morning being creative with our writing by producing a job advert for a Spy linked to our guided reading text of Storm Breaker - Alex Ryder.

In maths we have worked hard at finding lines of symmetry in a shape, reflecting a shape and also translating a shape around a grid. The children have done a great job with this and even found symmetry before the adults in the class could.

As part of our new topic this half term 'Let there be Light' we spent the afternoon having fun in the dark with torches, looking at different light sources and talking about reflection.

We have also this week been given our own timetables which we stuck up in our lockers. This will help us become more independent and ensure we have the correct equipment ready which will support us in our transition to high school.
