This half term our topic is transport! For many of our topics we spend a whole session finding out what the children already know and unpick how we can explore the topic to best suit the children's needs and interests. This is what we found out...

The children had lots of ideas of different kinds of transport they have seen or have travelled on, and enjoyed sharing their experiences of different journeys they have been on.

Lots of children were particularly interested in emergency vehicles so we will have a week dedicated to learning more about this type of transport.

There were many questioned asked about trains; we will explore this further throughout of topic.

We will use lots of non-fiction texts to research the different areas of transport, including finding out about transport used in the past. We will also use fiction texts including 'The Train Ride' and 'The Way Back Home' to inspire the children's imaginations within their work.

During the topic we will be talking about road and rail safety.

Lots of topics here could be discussed at home too! Please let us know via Seesaw if your child has expressed a particular interest in an area of transport and we will let the children lead us in their learning.

It will be a very busy half term as we remember the story of Guy Fawkes and celebrate Bonfire Night, we will take moments of reflection, in an age appropriate manner, as Remembrance day approaches and of course...
