Week 6

With Robinwood a happy but distant memory year 6 started the week with lots to learn and look forward to.

We had a very special assembly on Monday morning taken by Mr Scott in which 10 visitors to our school were introduced. These were not just any visitors they came from schools in Sweden, Italy and Spain. We welcomed them to WGE with open arms and our super year 6 house captains showed them around school showing lots of confidence and maturity - they were fantastic ambassadors for our school.

On Wednesday afternoon our guests visited classes across school to talk about the culture, school system and geography of their countries. As usual they left year 6 smiling with plenty of compliments about our children for both their engagement and the interesting questions they asked. -See the school Facebook page for pictures of our guests in year 6.

In literacy we have been starting writing our informal diary entries. We are going to write these about our recent trip to Robinwood and we are sure they will include plenty of humor.

In numeracy we have finished learning about negative numbers and are now moving on next week to addition and subtraction.

Finally in our topic sessions we have had great fun creating a timeline plotting the key events in World War 2 and then looked at the leaders of the main countries involved.
