Week 1 updates

Wow! What a fantastic start to the week and the new half term!

The children have settled quickly back into their routines and seem to be happy they are back!

On Monday we had our WOW starter. As our topic is the Stone Age, we created clay goblets and plates from the stone age, carefully using our tools around us to create patterns on them. In the afternoon, we kept to our theme of Stone Age, we turned the classroom upside down (quite literally!) and created out own cave paintings. We discussed the shapes, patterns and colours they would have used in the Stone Age time.

In our writing this week, we have began using a passage called the Ride of Passage. We watched the video partly and spoke about how important in particular texts, the sequence is. We also spoke about the 5 W's - who, what, where, when, why - and how these are important in our sentences as they add lots of description. We had a go at writing our 5W sentences.

In our maths this week, we have revisited column addition. We are looking at the layout of column addition, how we set it out and the format we use.

Have a look at some of our photos from our WOW starter.

Have a lovely weekend!
