Week 3

Pop Ups Popping Everywhere!

Every single week the children in Year 1 impress the staff who work with them with their amazing enthusiasm.  Our Design and Technology Pop Up Project has really show cased our budding designers and makers.  Not only have we loved looking at all the different pop up books children have brought to school, we have loved seeing that children are learning a skill in school and then practising it at home or at Bright Stars. This week the children learnt how to make a fan pop up mechanism, and they have some amazing ideas for how to use it in their own pop up card designs.

This week has also seen Year 1 retelling the story of The Princess and the Pea with confidence, adding numbers to 20 by counting on, learning some of the significant events in the life of Queen Elizabeth II, and learning how to upload and save photographs of their work to their own personal digital file.

Nando's Homework was given out on Wednesday, and the children will also bring home their spellings and handwriting homework.  Don't forget to return homework by Wednesday for a sticker.

Next week we are learning how to write traditional tales, making a sliding pop up mechanism, securing our understanding of  addition to 20, and finding out about Queen Elizabeth II's coronation.

We hope you enjoy the photographs of our week.  Have a lovely weekend and we will see you all on Monday!
