Week 1 W/C 4/11

What a brilliant first week back we have had! We were introduced to our new topic.

In our maths, we had a recap from our learning last half term and the children were fantastic in everything what they remembered! We have continued on our addition and subtraction and looked at related calculations. If the children were in my group, we remembered these by having a 'little cousin' and a 'big cousin' calculation. EG. 5+5=10 (little cousin), 50+50=100 (big cousin). Please can you practise number bonds to 10 regularly with your child at home. If they are secure in it one week, please continue to test them at random times in the day.

In our writing, we wrote a prewrite for a setting description. We are going to use our experience at the Chillfactore on Thursday 7th November to help us with our assessed piece of writing with a setting description.

In our topic, we have learnt that the Earth is split up into 7 continents. We learnt this through a very addictive song! We also began looking at the continents on a map and next week we will further this by looking at the continents more closely in an atlas.

Please find this week's homework and spellings attached as well as some photos from our trip on Thursday.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Harris
