A visit from a Midwife

On Thursday we had a special visitor, Mrs Camkin came to talk to us about her job as a midwife. We learned that a midwife looks after babies and mummies.  Mrs Camkin bought LOTS of things to show us and we even got to use them ourselves.

We looked at a model of a baby in its mummy's tummy and looked at a BIG book to see how babies grow.  We learned how a baby feeds and breathes inside its mummy and how babies get their belly buttons. We listened to a babies heartbeat... and our own!

We really enjoyed our interesting morning and learned so much that now lots of children in Year One want to be midwives when they grow up-luckily Mrs Camkin left us lots of things to use in our Home Corner so we can practise our skills!
