Spring 1

Happy new year to you all!

Here's what we've got coming up this half term...

We are continuing to dig deeper into our World War Two History topic this half term, the children showed such an interest in it and we've got lots more to find out!

In our writing we will be focusing on a book called Rose Blanche by Roberto Innocenti, this is a spectacular book written from a little girl's perspective during WW2. The illustrations are also incredible! We will begin our writing with a setting description but we will also be focusing on points of view and dialogue.

In Maths we will be focusing on fractions for the first part of the half term and focusing on our arithmetic skills.

PE

PE is now on Wednesday and Friday.

Homework

Each week, children should be working on their statutory Year 5/6 spellings, in any way that they choose.

Reading to an adult 3 times a week and reading records to be signed by an adult.

Practicing key maths skills- times tables in any way they choose. e.g. TT Rockstars, Hit the Button.

I will be sending home SATs papers throughout this half term. I would strongly encourage your child to have a go and use them to practice, even if it is just a couple of questions per night or a few each week. This is to help your child to recall knowledge. There may be aspects that have not been covered in class yet in the papers, if you can help your child to unpick the questions then that is great, if not please do not worry as they will be learning these skills in class.

If you have any questions at all, as always, please do not hesistate to ask.
