Get ready for take off as Year 5 will be 'reaching for the stars' in our learning linked to our Science driver which is all things space and space exploration.
We will will be ready to blast off to Space on Monday 19th May. Due to our amazing work linked to the '£5 challenge' we still have some learning to complete linked to the Ancient Greeks.
We will start by looking at the astronaut Tim Peake and use an interview with him as a stimulus for our writing. We will be reviewing all the skills taught this year so far to secure these in our learning. From this we will look at some narrative piece of writing and use pupil voice to decide on what the focus will be. The choices are Space Monkey or Curiosity: The story of the Mars Rover.
In maths, we will continue our Power Maths learning and daily Number Sense sessions. The children show such an amazing attitude to their learning and we want to continue with this.
In reading, we will start our new class book called Cosmic. We will continue to build our reading fluency so that we can read for understanding and answer a range of questions.
Our focus this term will be getting 'Year 6' ready as part of the transition to Year 6 in September. We've got this!!
Please look at the learning overview for an overview for each curriculum area.
As always, please come and see one of the Year 5 teaching team should you have any questions.
Thank you.
