History
This half term in Year 5 we will continue to focus on the continent of Europe and switch our focus to history. We will be learning all about life in Ancient Greece, their biggest achievements and the influence that they have had on the world, particularly Britain, such as our modern-day democracy and British values. We compare differences between living in Ancient Greece and modern-day Britain and the rest of the Western World.
Writing
We will start by completing a piece of work for the Roald Dahl museum before developing our story writing linked to Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. This will help us apply our learning of the Ancient Greeks and the Greek Gods.
Maths
We will look at division and multiplication before continuing our learning linked to fractions.
Reading
In our whole class we are starting our new book called the Uncommoners : The Crooked Sixpence. We will continue to build on our reading fluency so we can answer questions based on the text.
Our class book for the end of each day will be Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Mr Faulkner will be doing a superb job of bringing the book to life...as always!!
Science
Our science work will begin with looking at the cause of Global Warming and the reasons for this before then looking at properties of materials.
D&T
In D&T we will be designing and making our very own Greek flatbreads so get ready to sample our tasty delights!!
