Behaviour at Whitegate End

At Whitegate End Primary School and Nursery, we believe that great learning begins with great relationships.

Our approach to behaviour is built on The Whitegate End Way: Belong. Safe. Thrive. We want every child to feel known, valued and included, because children learn best when they feel safe, supported and connected.

We have high expectations for all children and explicitly teach our Whitegate End Pledges:

These expectations help create a calm, positive and purposeful environment where everyone can succeed.

Our behaviour approach is relationship-focused, trauma-informed and inclusive. We recognise that all behaviour communicates a need, so we seek to understand before we respond. Through our Protect, Relate, Regulate and Reflect framework, we help children develop emotional regulation, resilience and responsibility for their actions.

When difficulties arise, we focus on reflection, restoration and repairing relationships. Children are supported to learn from mistakes, make positive choices and move forward successfully. Alongside this, we celebrate positive behaviour, effort, kindness and achievement every day.

By working closely with families and maintaining a consistent approach across school, we create a community where every child can flourish, achieve their potential and leave Whitegate End ready for the next stage of their journey and for life beyond school.
