We are very excited to be providing our Forest Schools provision throughout school. We have a great outdoor area, which is the ideal location for us to go out and explore, have fun and learn. Forest School is an inspirational concept providing learning opportunities through practical activities in an outdoor environment.
Children enjoy the freedom to explore and experience the natural world in all seasons and in all weathers. Forest School embraces an approach of nurturing, supporting and developing the self-esteem of participants. It is an ideal environment in which to develop innovation, problem-solving, risk-taking, creativity and teamwork.
In September 2024, we upgraded our Forest school provision with a purpose-built area for the children to play and explore the outside world. This is the centrepiece of our new-look frontage at Whitegate End and provides a space for Forest School for children in Years 1-6.
Forest School sessions are led by Mr Hollingsworth. These will initially be for identified children and support their learning and social needs.
The correct clothing is essential for Forest School. All children need to bring:
· Wellington/sturdy boots
· Long trousers/ long-sleeved top
· Jumper/Sweatshirt
· Waterproof coat and trousers
· Hat, gloves (not mittens) and thick socks in Autumn/Winter months
These need to be old clothes as we do not intend to stay clean! They should be worn to school that day, but bring a spare set of clothes to school in a separate bag so that the children can get changed if we do get too dirty!
